FAQs

Why Rig Mate?

We were sick of spending hours tying knots or throwing big money away at tackle shops for pre-made rigs and knew there had to be an easier way. Every angler knows the knot is the most important part of setting up a rig. It has the most pressure strung upon it and has to stand up to the challenge when a fish takes the bait.

For this reason, each Rig Mate knot is tied to the exact same tension using precision equipment. This ensures consistency and reliability.

What is the distance between loops?

06 - 10 lb = 35 cm / 15 inches
20 - 100 lb = 47 cm / 18 inches

Do I need to tie any knots with Rig Mate?

Nope – the loops are all pre-tied and it’s as simple as cut your desired amount of loops,  attach your tackle and catch fish. We even recommend using one loop to attach to a clip swivel so your rig is completely pre-tied!

How many rigs can I get from one spool?

It all depends how you set up your rig and what size spool you purchase. However, the following table is a helpful guide with the most common set-up:

Line Size Number of Knots Rig Set-up Total Rigs per Spool
06 - 10 lb 100 3 or 4 loop rig 25 - 33
20 - 60 lb 80 3 or 4 loop rig 20 - 26
80 lb 60 3 or 4 loop rig 15 - 20
100 lb 50 3 loop rig 16
Can I use different hooks or accessories with Rig Mate?

Yes! You can customise your rigs however you like – swap in different hooks, add lumo beads, squid skirts, or change your sinkers quickly depending on the conditions.

Can I use Rig Mate in freshwater and saltwater?

Rig Mate is versatile. It’s ideal for bottom fishing – offshore, inshore, from the beach, jetty, or rocks. Lighter weights (6-20 lb) are great for smaller freshwater species, whilst most anglers will opt for 40 lb+ offshore. Check out our post on how to choose the right line strength for a detailed breakdown.

Can I use metal lures, live bait or soft plastics with Rig Mate?

You can. Some anglers swap the sinker for a weighted soft plastic, jighead, or even use assist hooks and lumo skirts. It’s a custom rig builder’s dream.

Where do you ship from?
